Ever since I was about 10 years old, I have been fascinated by cars.  My love began with the cars my father used to have around that time, which were mainly old Vauxhalls with big engines (and by modern standards, not much power - the Ventora produced 121 BHP from its 3.3 litres).

In time I acquired my first car, a Renault 9.  Amazingly, this car was voted as Car of the Year in 1982, which seems amazing given that the car had no performance, looked ridiculous and had suspension which was so soft that even slow cornering made you feel the car was about to topple over.  Still, I loved it.

I progressed from this through to a Ford Sierra (which was stolen), a Peugeot 309, a Rover 420, a SEAT Toledo TDi, a Ford Focus, a Vauxhall Vectra V6, right through to my current car, a Vauxhall Astra 1.9 CDTi.  The SEAT changed my views entirely on diesels - with the help of a bit of engine tweaking via a new engine management chip (upgrades from 110 BHP to 135 BHP), the car had lively performance and still did 50 mpg.  This is the main reason why I have now sold my Vectra and gone back to diesel motoring.

In this bit of the site you will find various things, including some pictures of the various cars that I and my family have owned, along with some thoughts of mine on car performance.
