Washington National Cathedral (or to give it its proper title – The Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul) finally achieved its current form in 1990, work having commenced in 1907. The Cathedral is the sixth largest cathedral in the world (and the second largest in the USA). The cathedral does not receive government funding – instead relying on public donations and the work of the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation. |
