The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is a memorial dedicated to former president Thomas Jefferson. The building was completed in 1942, and inside is a bronze statue of Jefferson himself, which was completed in 1947. The memorial is located in West Potomac park, and can be reached by making a pleasant walk along the edge of the Tidal basin. Inside and on the walls of the memorial are extracts from a number of Jefferson’s writings. |
