The basic love of dogs for most dog lovers, I suspect, is the completely non-judgemental nature of the animals.  It doesn't matter what race you are, whether you are fat, thin, ugly, beautiful, straight or gay, they never give you an ounce of criticism, which is more than can be said for some members of the human race!  I now live in a rented house and I am out all day, so it is hard for me to own one myself, but maybe one day.
