Hi Martin,

I accidentally discovered your website while looking for the exact definition of 'quantum system' and what exactly is the use of Schrodinger's equation etc. I found your website has just what I am looking for. As we come across a lot of stumbling blocks while reading some of the books we have on quantum physics, I resorted to the net. I am going to start from the beginning. That should keep my husband and me occupied for some time. Also your site is very unusual as you are also fond of animals and photos, cars, etc. .....It is going to be interesting going through the links. Thank you.

Very interesting site. You impress me as being quite intelligent and talented. The old architecture in England is stunning. There's something about your country that fascinates me (especially your toughness during WWII and all you endured). I really enjoy looking at your photos of the different towns. I always thought with the heavy bombings of WWII you probably lost many old buildings and landmarks, but it appears I am incorrect.

I live on the border of Ohio and West Virginia. The two states are separated by the Ohio River, and we are about 60 mile southwest of Pittsburgh< PA.

saw your page about seat toledo and agree with you that it is a lovely car, i have the same but an SE TDI on a V plate, although it is 10 years old it has only done 47,500, and looks great for a polish. at the moment though the old girl is playing up, she is suffering from lack of power under acceleration and especially uphill.  also diesel consumption is suffering a little, could this be a problem with the turbo as i have been told.

It's nice that someone can find the time and take the trouble to produce such an interesting site and it seems to attract a great deal of interest from around the globe. Well done, Sir. I was particularly interested in the photos of Shipston. I was born in Shirley (near B'ham) when bombs were dropping. Family moved to Acocks Green and we were evacuated out to Ilmington. My family had strong connections with Hampton in Arden, Stratford and Shipston and we eventually moved to Tysoe (aged 7). I attended the North Oxfordshire Tech School in Banbury and later joined the army, but loved going back home on leave and frequently went to Shipston. I'm not sure who Jill is, but her photos of Ellen Badger were a rather sad reminder of some girls I knew from there including a beautiful girl called Shala Sartipi - an Iranian nurse who was living in the nurses home there. I will perhaps never know what happened to Shala because she told me that her Father was a member of the Sha's Government so I dread to think! Great reminder to me of the area I still have great affection for and would dearly love to move back to. To me, South Warwickshire IS England and my home.

I see you like dogs. My two favorite dogs were a german sheperd, (I think I spelled that wrong) named Victor when I was a kid. He was uncannily smart. He seemed to know the difference between right and wrong instinctly. He had an unlimited supply of energy and loved other humans. He was also a good guard dog but loved anyone who visited. He disappeared out of our yard when I was a teen. I also more recently had a grey labrador named Dingo. She was also uncannily smart. Her first litter was 8 mixed puppies and the 2nd was 13 labs!!!! When ever I would get into the car she would escort me to the car if I would be gone a long time, (weeks or months) but only long spans of time. EVERY TIME. I have no idea how she knew. None. I didn't matter whether I had anything in my hand or not she just knew!!! The last time I saw her I was living in Georgia but visited the suburb of Houston where my parents lived. I was getting into the car and I noticed her whimpering subtly like she was anxious to the point where it got my attention. I think she knew it was the last. Animals know. She had grey eyes when she was a puppy that eventually turned brown. I'll see her again.

came across this looking for the stained glass memorial I saw in York Minster, dedicated to 9-11 victims. very poignant. I was in London at the time, with my husband, spending 2 wks at Oxford in an alumni weekend (Joint with Duke and UNC). I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of empathy and love from the residents of Great Britain. I already feel drawn to this beautiful country because of my ancestors, but the people enveloped us with warmth and welcome. I go back every chance I get.

There are a few failings. i will mention two. on one page you spell runnymede as runneymede. you say in your slang list (at the beginning somewhere) "and i don't care". well, you should care; after all, you're supposedly giving information to all the world. if you don't know, find out.
