Edgehill

Edgehill was the location of the first battle of the English Civil war, which took place in October 1642. It is an elevated ridge, about 15 miles of Stratford-upon-Avon. The battle was between the Royalists (led by Charles 1st) and the Parliamentarians (led by Robert Devereux). The Parliamentarians were put to flight, but the outcome of the battle was indecisive in military terms.
