In July 2007, severe rains hit the UK, and my parents' town, Shipston-on-Stour, was affected. Not as bad as some of the surrounding areas, but enough to require clear-up operations. A number of shops, houses and businesses were flooded out, and the route from Shipston to Banbury was out of bounds for a while, to everything except 4x4 vehicles. |

The worst affected region was near the Stour river, where this restaurant is located
The water was about two feet deep in the restaurant car park
The cause of the flooding was overflow of the Stour River
But the floods bring some fun for many folk
Not everyone is put off from travelling by the floods
