For me personally, the Uffington White Horse is one of the most spectacular sites in England, and I am very lucky that it is only 20 minutes from where I live.  It is a carving of a white horse galloping across the countryside, and is thought to be 3,000 years old.  It is over 100 m long, and is certainly the oldest such figure in England.  Some say the horse represents St George's steed - St George is the saint of England.  Located nearby is Dragon Hill, where (according to English folklore) St George slew a dragon.

A closer view.  It has to be said, the horse is very difficult to photograph from the ground

Dragon Hill.  The white patch on top is supposedly where the dragon spilled its blood and as a result grass doesn't grow there.
