The Kirkstone Pass is a mountain pass that lies on the A592 and which connects Ambleside with the village of Patterdale.  The altitude of the top of the pass is 454 metres.  The Kirkstone Pass is the highest pass in the Lake District that is open to traffic, and it provides great views, especially on the descent to Patterdale.
