Lincoln Cathedral is one of the most impressive cathedrals in the UK, and is third in size (by floor space), behind York Minster and St Paul's Cathedral in London. The original cathedral was completed in 1092, but was destroyed by an earthquake in 1185. The current cathedral took shape over the next few hundred years, and up to 1543 was reputed to be the tallest building in Europe. |
