The Ridgeway is an ancient track, about 85 miles long, that runs across the central-south of England.  It is believed to be the oldest road in Britain (believed to have been in use for around 5000 years), and is a haven for keen walkers.  The Ridgeway runs very close to Didcot, although the elevated location means that there is usually a stiff breeze blowing up there!  There are numerous ancient monuments along the Ridgeway – for example the Uffington white horse and Wayland’s Smithy are both located on or very near the Ridgeway.
