Stow-on-the-Wold is a Cotswold town located about 10 miles south of Shipston-on-Stour. It lies on the top of a hill (The word “wold” literally means “rolling hills”) and the Fosse Way runs through the outside edge of the town. I usually go shopping at Stow on Sunday mornings, and I know from experience that it is often colder and more rainy in Stow than it is in Shipston! |
Stow has quite a tight and compact town centre
Some of the streets are quite narrow
Most of the buildings are made from Cotswold limestone, hence the colour
Another rather narrow street
Like most Cotswold towns, Stow is very popular with tourists
