The Tarr steps is a prehistoric clapper bridge (an ancient type of bridge formed
from slabs of stone) that runs across the River Barle. The bridge is considered
to be at least 1000 years old. There is a very pleasant walk along the banks of
the Barle, and – needless to say – there is a pub from where afternoon tea can
be purchased.
