These are from Palmyra in central Virginia, a few miles from Charlottesville.  I took these during a visit to my friend Maud and her family, without whose generous hospitality the visit would not have been nearly so enjoyable.  This was my first visit to the USA and is special for that reason.  Sadly, Maud and I are not in touch any more, but life moves on!
