( HomePhotos → Wantage )

Wantage is a small town about 10 miles west of Didcot, and is best known as being the birth place of Alfred the Great.  Alfred was a King of Wessex in the 9th century AD, and was recognised as being one of the more enlightened kings of that time, someone who actually cared about the welfare of his subjects.  I lived in Wantage for four years and enjoyed my time there, though the town can get rowdy at weekends, as it is the town that all the country boys head towards at the weekend, in order to get drunk and have fun!
